Seguindo a tradição, saiu a lista de indicados para o 40º Blues Music Awards, maior premiação do gênero, que reúne os artistas que mais se destacaram. Dentre os indicados, muitos deles figuraram na lista do Filho do Blues de melhores álbuns de 2018. O líder em número de nomeações foi Anthony Geraci, que foi um dos destaques em 6 categorias (Música do ano, com "Angelina, Angelina", Álbum do Ano, com Why Did You Have To Go, que ficou em segundo na lista do blog, Álbum de Blues Tradicional, Artista Masculino de Blues Tradicional, o Melhor Pianista Pinetop Perkins e, por fim, a melhor banda, com a sua The Boston Blues All-Stars).
