A noite de gala do mundo do blues foi bem diferente neste ano. Devido à pandemia do coronavírus, não tinha como fazer o evento de cinco horas de duração, tomado de gente, com apresentações ao vivo e tudo o mais. Como tem sido nesse período de distanciamento social, o 41º Blues Music Awards foi transmitido ao vivo pelas redes sociais e teve apresentações remotas de casa de vários artistas que ganharam destaque durante o ano passado.
O grande vencedor da noite foi o estreante Christone 'Kingfish' Ingram, que levou pra casa cinco prêmios, dentre eles o mais desejado álbum do ano, com o disco de estréia Kingfish (os outros prêmios foram Melhor álbum de artista jovem, melhor álbum de contemporary blues, e, individualmente, melhor guitarrista e melhor artista de blues contemporâneo. Nick Moss faturou dois troféus com o disco Lucky Guy! (banda do ano e melhor álbum de blues tradicional). Bobby Rush, que se recuperou recentemente da covid-19, também ganhou prêmios na noite.
