O
Blues Music Awards é a maior premiação para o gênero do blues. A 37ª edição do
prêmio será realizada no dia 5 de maio de 2016, em Memphis, Tenneesee.
Preparando o terreno para o evento, The Blues Foundation, organização
internacional que se encarrega do Blues Music Awards, divulgou no último dia 15
os indicados para a premiação anual. Na lista figuram vários artistas e bandas
que já entraram na lista de melhores de 2015 e outros que ainda irei reservar
um tempo para conferir.
Os destaques do 37º Blues Music
Awards são Buddy Guy, claro, com o lançamento de Born To Play Guitar, que
concorre pelo melhor álbum do ano e melhor álbum de blues contemporâneo, junto
com Outskirts of Love, de Shemekia Copeland. O Brasil está presente no Blues
Music Awards com o disco Way Down South, de Igor Prado Band, na categoria de
álbum revelação. Concorrendo com ele estão Mr. Sipp, Eddie Cotton e outros. A
categoria de melhor álbum de rock blues está bastante disputada, com Joe
Bonamassa, Joe Louis Walker, Tinsey Ellis e Walter Trout disputando o prêmio. No
Soul Blues, o destaque vai para Jackie Payne, com seu ótimo álbum I Saw The
Blues. A escolha do Filho do Blues para cada categoria está em itálico.
